Buttner investigates the status of the artist and art work, random objects are adapted, using opportunistic techniques, applied with rigor, evolving shapes, and forms accumulate to articulate the tension between the methods and the intent. The methods and the intent are further explored through live performance and film, the artist builds structures as part of an installation, the viewer is invited to interrupt the frame and collapse the art. Art that is re-appropriated by the viewer, formulating specific moments of intervention, investigates the status of the artist, the art work and the globalization of art production and reception.
